- Winter Botany Hike
Winter Botany Hike
Friday March 4th at 1 p.m.: Join Northland College professor Sarah Johnson for a winter botany hike on the Big Ravine’s East Rim Trail. During the hike, Sarah will provide tips for identifying trees and shrubs in the winter and she’ll share insights on the vegetation ecology of the habitats we pass through during the hike. The trail crosses flat terrain through a variety of forest types. Please bring snowshoes and come dressed to be out in the winter weather for a couple of hours, as the hike will include several stops for natural history interpretation. We will primarily snowshoe on the trail, but there may be a few spots where we venture off the trail into the deeper snow. Afterwards, everyone is welcome to warm up at the Wineries on Betzold Rd. just north of the walk location.
Where to meet: The walk will start from the Big Ravine North parking area at 35555 Meyers-Olson Rd. which is located about .25 miles east of the intersection of Meyers-Olson Rd. and Betzold Rd. in the Town of Bayfield.
Please register for the walk by February 25th
Friday March 4th 2:00 - 4:30 p.m.: Bonfire and beverages at The Wineries on Betzold Rd.
