Friday, March 1
5pm-9pm Kids' Night Out - Bayfield Rec Center An evening of kids (ages 5-13) only activities at the Rec Center (parents, enjoy your evening)! Dinner and snacks provided. Come ready to play inside, outside, and in the pool. $10/child + $5 for each additional sibling.
5pm-12am 8th Annual Freeze Your Glass Off Party - The Creamery The official Bayfield Winter Festival Kick Off! Complimentary Chili from 6pm till it's gone. Bingo from 7-8pm (limit 50 participants).Live music from 8:30-11:30pm with Danny Blake & Friends! Featuring 3 Sheeps Brewing - Waterslide IPA & Fresh Coast Pale Ale on tap and Rebel Kent Amber Ale and Cashmere Hammer Nitro Stout $3.50 bottle specials.
4:30pm-9pm Mt Ashwabay Night Skiing
7pm Candlelight Walk - Bayfield Regional Conservancy An almost-full moon and candlelit luminaries will guide us along Bayfield’s beloved community trail – with a stop for cocoa and cookies at Van Sant Bridge. Gather at the trailhead. Approximately 1 mile round-trip. Walkers are encouraged to continue their hike with flashlights or headlamps if they wish to venture farther down the trail. Parking is allowed in the lot near the trailhead at South 3rd Street and Wilson Avenue. This event is weather-permitting.
7pm-11pm World Telemark Day Pre-Party - Mt Ashwabay $20 cover includes pulled pork sliders from Ashland Baking Company, Bent Paddle beer, an event t-shirt, door prizes, and music by the band -3 Below. Cover charge will be used to fund fall trail mowing.
Saturday, March 2
9am-4pm - World Telemark Day - Mt Ashwabay Free your heel and free your mind! Lifts run from 9:30am-9pm. Free tele rentals, free lessons 10:30 am, Human Slalom.
10am-5pm Poker Run - Participating Businesses - Downtown Bayfield Visit participating retailers to pick up cards. Best three hands win!
10am-2:00pm Fat Tire Bike Tours - Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion Fat Tire Mini Tours with North Coast Cycling Association. Try winter fat tire biking on the big lake. No experience necessary! $15 for bike rental, helmet, and guided 45 minute bike ride right on Lake Superior. Rides leave every hour on the hour from 10am-2pm. If lake conditions are unsafe, the rides will be relocated.
11am-4:00pm Concessions by the Penokee Mountain Cooperative School - Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion Warm up with home made chili, hot cocoa, and other snacks. Concessions will be served before and during the Polar Plunge for all interested. Proceeds from the concessions will go to the Penokee Mountain Cooperative School.
10:30am-12:30pm Snow Sculpture Contest - Memorial Park Bring your own tools or use your hands to create your most beautiful snow art! Prizes awarded! Judging will begin at 12:30pm.
12pm-1:30pm Polar Plunge Sign In - Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion All plungers must sign in; turn in pledges; and sign/turn in waivers.
1:00pm Penguin Egg Hunt - Memorial Park
1:30pm-2:00pm United States Coast Guard Ice Rescue Demo
2pm-4pm Polar Plunge - Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion Take the plunge or come to watch! (You can register the day of at the Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion from 12pm-1:30pm! Minimum of $50 in pledges per plunger.)
4pm-9:00pm Youth Night and Winter Flash - Mt Ashwabay $10 for lift ticket and rental for youth (under 18) from 4-9pm. Fireworks at dark! Lifts run from 9:30am-9pm.
5pm-6pm Poker Run Hand Turn In and Winners - The Creamery Turn in your cards from 5pm-6pm, winners announced at 6pm. Top three hands win!
6pm Showing of "Wisconsin Winter From Air" - Bayfield Carnegie Library
7pm-11pm Swing Into Spring - Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion - Sponsored by Howl Clothing & Adventure and Silverwaves Jewelry - We'll start the party off with the crowning of the Winter Royalty and then celebrate the seasons with live music by Room 2 Groove. Get down and warm up! Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Bayfield Rec Center for $8 or two for $15 in advance or are $10 at the door. Beer and wine cash bar.
Sunday, March 3
10am-4pm Thrive Healthy Living Exhibit - Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion A healthy mix of local, holistic health and wellness practitioners offering products and services to help you live your best lifestyle. Sample foods and beverages from local restaurants and enter the raffle to win a prize. Free admission.
10am-5pm Winter Sunday Family Funday - Bayfield Rec Center Family Day Passes only $14.00!
11am Sap Run Skijoring Race - Mt Ashwabay 3k and 5k 1-dog skijoring races. $25 entry fee. All skill levels welcome.
Check out Madeline Island and the Famous Ice Road!
Currently, we anticipate the ice road between Bayfield and Madeline Island to be open to cars and light trucks. It is a roughly two mile trip between the mainland and the island. Please be aware that the posted speed limit is 15 MPH and drivers are encouraged to use good judgement and obey all traffic signs. This could change, and then the travel would be by van or windsled. This road is ever changing and is monitored daily. For the most up to date information on travel call 715-747-5400 before you attempt to cross. During Winter Fest, Mission Hill Coffee will be open at 7am each morning and the Beach Club every day at 11am. Madeline Island Candles and Farmhouse Madeline Island will be open on Saturday, March 3rd. Both Big Bay Town Park and Big Bay State Park are also open.
